Hi,

my name is Jonny also known as Alternative View. I’m a photographer based in Bedlington, Northumberland.

Like many people I first got a camera as kid for Christmas. I burned through 4 rolls of 35mm film before the Queens speech and then cost my parents a fortune for development at the chemists. I was hooked, devoured every photography book and dreamed of shooting the Pirelli calendar (I was a teenage boy after all).

Unfortunately, my love of photography kind of died off when I had to choose between spending my own money on film or on going out drinking with my friends.

Fast forward 25 years and I trained as a drone pilot and found that all of the things I could do with my old camera I could do with the drone – but from a completely different viewpoint.

Using the drone rekindled my love of photography and led to my getting back into digital photography. This in turn led to me getting into working with models and that led to getting into studios and working with off camera flash. From there I held a few shoot days at local community centres and that led to . . .

Now - I have my studio space where I can not only carry on with my own photography, creating beautiful portraits for my clients, but can also pass on some of what I have learned as well as providing a space where other creatives can practice, experiment and evolve.
